Telehealth options now available

The Sports Clinic offers teleconferencing consultations with all of our doctors and most other practitioners who work in the Clinic.

These telehealth consultations will be booked with the relevant doctor the same as a regular consult. They will just be via phone or video link up rather than face to face.

There are certain people who may be eligible for a Medicare funded telephone or video consultation with a doctor. The receptionist can inform you of your individual doctor’s fees for teleconferencing when you ring to book.

How do I book a video appointment?

There are two ways to book a video consult.

Send an email to info@thesportsclinic.com.au with
- your contact details
- the email address you wish to receive a Zoom invitation

Our Administration staff will contact you via phone or email to schedule a Video or Telephonic Consult. You will then receive a Zoom invitation email from our practitioner for a video (Zoom) call or a phone call. Please make sure you let us know where you want your Zoom email invitation sent.

What video platform do I need?

We are using the "Zoom" cloud meeting program for video consults. It is free to sign up, confidential, and we are already familiar with it as we use it for specialist Telehealth appointments already in the clinic.

To receive a Zoom call, you will need to sign up for a free Zoom account if you do not already have one. It is a quick 2-minute process and is free.

For your appointment, you can use your mobile device or a computer.

If using a mobile device, you'll need to download the "Zoom Cloud Meetings" app and sign in prior to your appointment.

If using a computer, you can click on the link we send you via email, or you can enter the code at the Zoom website.

How do I prepare for a video appointment?

Be prepared, with a short list of what you need to discuss.
For the appointment, please find a quiet place where you can hear, and be heard.
Dress appropriately as if coming for a usual appointment with your doctor with the affected area able to be visualised if needed
Immediately prior to your appointment, your doctor will send you an email with a personal link to your private video chat. Click on the link to initiate the session.
If we wait for 5 minutes and you haven't been able to log in to the video chat, we'll call on your provided phone number instead.
We may run late sometimes. If we're a few minutes late, please be patient. If we're more than 5 minutes late, please call the clinic and speak to our receptionists to check on things for you.

How do I make a payment?

Sometime after the consultation is finished the doctor will contact the clinic to confirm the amount you are to be billed. If the consultation is eligible to be bulkbilled we will charge your medicare account for you. If you are not eligible to have the consultation bulk billed, a receptionist will then contact you to arrange payment by credit card over the phone or advise you on direct debit options.
